Colonel N.M. McLeod of the Royal Engineers was King George VI's A.D.C. Meaning he was basically the official go between of the Monarch and the military, an exceptionally desirable post for any British senior officer.
McLeod joined the Royal Engineers in 1900 and saw extensive service in the First World War being awarded both the Distinguished Service Order and the Military Medal. In 1936 as Colonel of the Royal Engineers Regiment he was selected to the post of A.D.C. to the then new King George VI.
The set is comprised of the following-
Red Melton cloth tunic made by Hawkes and Company Ltd., of #1 Saville Row, dated 10th June, 1937. Some say Hawkes are the finest of Londons tailors. The tunic comes with the medal loops still in place and its correct gilt GR VI buttons.
Fur busby with blue bag and white horsehair plume for use by a senior officer of the Royal Engineers.
Tapered coveralls (officer's pants) with wide red stripe down reach leg denoting a Royal Regiment.
A very unusual and rare set from just prior to WW2 that saw service with one of England's most beloved monarchs, King George VI.
